What we beleive
FYC Beliefs
Explore what we believe about God, Jesus, the Bible, and the foundations of our faith. Our beliefs are firmly rooted in Scripture and are directly aligned with our church and the Foursquare Denomination, shaping everything we do in our youth ministry.
The Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.
The Trinity
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
The Father
God is great. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, and unchanging. He is completely worthy of our trust and, above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move, and exist. God is also good. He is our Father—loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.
The Son
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He is the only way for people to be brought back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect, sinless life and became the substitute for us, satisfying the penalty of our sin through His death on the cross. He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death so that we can have new life in Him. Jesus is our Savior, our Healer, and our Soon-Coming King.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit assures us of our relationship with Christ and lives within every believer. He guides us into all truth and points us to Jesus. He convicts the world of sin, reveals God’s righteousness, and reminds us of what is to come. He comforts us, transforms us to become more like Christ, and gives us spiritual gifts. He also empowers believers through the baptism of the Holy Spirit to live boldly and carry out Jesus' mission.
Eternity
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God because of sin, or in eternal union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be separated from God is Hell. To be in union with Him is Heaven. Both are real and eternal.
Humanity
People are made in the image of God and are the highest expression of His creation. We were created for relationship with God, but through sin, that relationship was broken. Because of this, we cannot restore that relationship on our own. Every person is uniquely created, carries inherent dignity, and is worthy of respect and the love of Christ.
Salvation
Salvation is made possible through the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross. It is the only way for our sins to be forgiven and for us to be restored to God. Salvation happens when we place our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus, who is the full payment for our sin. It is a gift from God that cannot be earned. Through salvation, we are not only forgiven but given new life in Christ.
The Church
The Church is the community of all believers, united through faith in Jesus Christ. It is devoted to His teachings, committed to His ways, and called to live in obedience to Him. The Church exists to glorify Christ, love one another in unity, and bring the message of the gospel to the world. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the Church continues the mission of Jesus on the earth.
